Overview
Working with the Supporting Aging Sisters in Scarborough (SASS) Program Coordinator, this role supports marginalized senior women in the community. The position helps deliver programming that advances gender equality, emotional and economic well-being, and social inclusion for senior women. It is one of five funded Canada Summer Jobs positions for summer 2026.
Starts June 15, 2026; 8-week term; 35 hrs/week at $17.60/hr.
Primary Duties
Assist with promoting and delivering workshops and webinars supporting senior women toward gender equality, emotional and economic well-being, and social inclusion.
Develop promotional materials and social media content to reach and engage senior women.
Participate in information events for senior women to raise awareness of available services.
Provide information and referral on community resources to senior women who phone, email, or visit, linking them to resources for their needs.
Develop resource brochures on services and issues for senior women.
Track service statistics and explore a new tech-based reporting system.
Maintain accurate records per the Centre's policies and attend weekly staff meetings, supervision, and mentoring.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, youth must:
be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period;
be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and
have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
