Overview
Scarborough Women's Centre delivered 80 webinars and in-person workshops in 2024–25, reaching 588 participants. Sessions run Thursday evenings 7:00–8:30 PM (sometimes Tuesdays) over Webex or in-person at Toronto Public Libraries and SWC's office, inviting approx. 15-20 women per event. Topics to speak about include economic security (debt/budgeting) , freedom from violence, navigating systems, and emotional/mental health, with volunteers contributing as expert presenters.
Primary Duties
Present on your area of expertise to a group of 15–20 women (recent topics include interview skills, debt management, and mental wellness)
Recommend practical, actionable advice participants can apply to their own situations
Qualifications
Professional or subject-matter expertise relevant to SWC's themes (economic security, freedom from violence, navigating systems, emotional/mental health)
For finance sessions, expertise in debt management and budgeting
Volunteer Requirements
Submit your resume to be considered as a presenter
Remain on GBF's internal list of expert speakers for at least one year
